Congratulations to 2024 Retiree Mrs. Paulette Haynie! 🥳🎉
Mrs. Haynie has retired after 23 years of service to Anderson 3. Paulette is originally from Abbeville and is a graduate of Abbeville High School. She attended Tennessee Temple University and Piedmont Technical College. Paulette has worked in her current role as a kindergarten paraprofessional at Flat Rock Elementary for 11 years. Before that, she served at the district office and as a Special Education Paraprofessional.
She and her late husband, David, have one daughter, Katelyn (Robert), who has blessed Paulette with a granddaughter, Daveigh. Paulette is excited to spend more time with her family and serve at church.
"My favorite memory has to be seeing students light up when they can read or understand a math problem. Seeing students grow in their learning has been rewarding. Also, when former students wrote me a letter thanking me for encouraging them to be all they can be. My motto has been "I can and I will" with students "who feel defeated" in their learning. Sharing this with some of the students gave them encouragement to try a math problem or sounding out a word while reading a book. When that student attempted and succeeded, a smile came to their face. That has always been the most rewarding time as a paraprofessional, knowing I made a difference in a child's life." 💡💕

Adam Coats, Principal of Starr-Iva Middle, recently graduated from United Way of Anderson County Young Philanthropists Academy! 🎉

Marilyn has worked as a Special Education Paraprofessional at Crescent and Starr-Iva for five years. After being inspired by students with diverse abilities in the classroom, she applied and was accepted to the SC-CREATE program, which funds scholarships for SPED educators to become certified teachers. Marilyn now proudly holds a bachelor's degree in Multicategorical Special Education from Columbia College. 🍎

She consistently works to inspire not only her students but her fellow teachers. She can always be found with a smile on her face, spreading enthusiasm and love to everyone. Heather has been an Instructional Technology Coach for two years. Before that, she taught Business Education at Crescent High School for five years. Mrs. Dickerson's technology and instruction expertise and creativity have fostered many new projects with teachers, departments, and grade levels. She works hard to meet the needs of teachers and students while blazing a trail of innovation. Heather always has a smile on her face and is willing to help in whatever capacity she is needed. 👩🏻💻🧠

She holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education with an emphasis in literacy, culture, and diversity, as well as a master's degree in literacy, both from Clemson University. Hailea and her husband Wesley have one daughter and reside in the Antreville Community.

Coach Chad Johnson is Flat Rock's Teacher of the Year! Mr. Johnson is the Physical Education Teacher and has taught for over 20 years. Coach Johnson is everybody's favorite. He is always happy to see the students, and they are always excited to see him. Whether on the bus lot, in the hallways, or his classroom, Coach Johnson always encourages students in everything they do. He goes over and beyond for each student to make sure he knows them on a personal level, and he goes out of his way for all of them. Coach is truly one of a kind! 💛🏈
Mrs. Linda Herron is Flat Rock's Support Staff of the Year! Mrs. Herron is the Bookkeeper and has served "The Rock" since the school opened. Linda is the glue that holds Flat Rock together. She is kind and goes out of her way to be helpful to everyone while doing her job excellently. 💖💰
