Anderson 3 will operate on a Two-Hour Delay schedule for Thursday, January 29. ⏰ Bus routes may take slightly longer than normal as drivers safely reroute to avoid areas that remain hazardous. Communication will be shared directly with families whose routes may be affected. 🚌❄️

❄️ Weather Update #2 ❄️

Our Transportation and Operations Teams have worked diligently today to assess road conditions across the Starr, Iva, and Flat Rock communities. While primary roads and highways have improved, many rural secondary roads remain hazardous due to lingering ice. These roadways contain numerous 🚌❄️

Because of these conditions, Anderson 3 will observe an eLearning Day, Wednesday, January 28, to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families. 💻✏️

❄️ Winter Weather Update ❄️

Due to anticipated winter weather impacts over the weekend, Anderson 3 will observe eLearning Days on Monday, January 26, and Tuesday, January 27.

Schools will communicate eLearning information directly with students and families. We understand that winter weather may result in power outages or connectivity issues ⚡📶, and flexibility will be provided as needed. Please be reminded that students have five (5) school days to complete the assigned eLearning work following the date that school operations resume.

Ms. Moffatt has joined the 1st Grade Team at Iva Elementary. She is a recent graduate of Erskine College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Business Administration. During her time at Erskine, she also played collegiate beach volleyball, continuing a sport she’s loved since childhood. She completed her student teaching in 1st grade with Mrs. Davis at Iva Elementary, where she discovered her passion for teaching first graders, loving how they balance their independence with their eagerness to learn.

Originally from Florida, Ms. Moffatt grew up in a big family as one of six children. Before transferring to Erskine, she earned her associate degree from the State College of Florida while competing in beach volleyball at the collegiate level.

Anderson 3 is proud to partner with local emergency services for our annual school safety walkthroughs. Representatives from Anderson County Emergency Management, Anderson County Fire, including surrounding volunteer fire stations, Anderson County EMS, Iva Police Department, and Anderson County Technical Services, toured our campuses this week with district leaders. Together, they reviewed changes, noted strengths, and identified ways to further strengthen our crisis plans and safety measures. 🚓🚑🚒

What makes Anderson 3 unique is our commitment to inviting emergency personnel into our schools to provide direct feedback on our procedures. This collaboration has become a yearly practice and continues to shape how we refine and improve safety across the district.

This year’s walkthrough highlighted the addition of even more safety cameras, fencing, equipment and other improvements. Dr. Nixon, Deputy Superintendent, mentioned this year's application for state Building Safety Grant Funds included ballistic film for exterior windows and doors.

We are grateful for the expertise and dedication of our community partners as we work together to keep our students and staff safe. 🏫🔒
