Meet this week's #A3AllStar, Mrs. Michelle Dutton! 
Mrs. Dutton has been an educator for 27 years. For the last 12 years, she has taught 4th grade at Flat Rock Elementary. A Lander College graduate, Dutton began her career by teaching in Anderson 5 for two years. She then traveled to Greenville County, where she taught Special Education for five years. Then in 2000, she was hired to teach Special Education at Starr-Iva Middle. When Flat Rock opened in 2008, Mrs. Dutton returned to an elementary classroom and has taught 4th grade ever since!
Mrs. Dutton has been married to her husband, Kenneth, for 22 years. They have three children, Jordan (a junior at Anderson University), Morgan (a freshman at Erskine College), and Bryson (an 8th grader at Starr-Iva). The Dutton family attends Providence Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoys time with family and being crafty!
-"What do you value most about being a teacher?"
-"In my position as a teacher, first and foremost, I value the role I play in developing students into life-long learners. Teaching is one of the most important jobs you can have. As the daughter of a former educator, teaching is in my blood. It is second nature to me. I love being able to get students excited about studying our history, seeing a student feel proud when they learn something new through research we have conducted in science, or seeing them use what they have learned to create a Google Drawing, a Google Map, or an iMovie through the use of technology. I love those moments when the "light bulb" is ignited and a spark is lit for learning... the moment when I know they've got it! Second, I value the group of teachers I get the honor and privilege to work with every day. I work with the best group of people I know who are all dedicated to the students at Flat Rock Elementary. Finally, I value the role that I play in my district and community, a place where my children have grown up, and where I know that every day, I do my best to set a good example and make a difference."
Here are 3 Facts About Mrs. Dutton:
1. I am a HUGE Dallas Cowboys fan! I have been a Dallas Cowboys fan since I was little. My daddy liked the Redskins, and I did not want to pull for a team he liked. This was one reason I also agreed to go out with my husband. He was a Cowboys fan too. 
2. I love watching my children participate in sports - especially my daughters as they ran Cross Country and Track for Crescent and my son as he plays football, basketball, and baseball for Starr-Iva. 
3. My favorite vacation spots are the beach and Disney!
