Anderson School District 3 is responding to a cybersecurity incident involving Frontline Education, a national third-party education software provider used by school districts across the country, including Anderson 3.

The cybersecurity incident occurred within Frontlineโ€™s technology environment and was not the result of a breach of Anderson 3 systems.

According to Frontline, the company identified a vulnerability in a third-party software product in August 2026 that allowed unauthorized access to a portion of its environment containing data related to Frontline Central and School Health Management. Frontline has stated that school districts that did not use those products were not affected.

Anderson 3 utilizes impacted Frontline services, and Frontline has confirmed that information associated with Anderson 3 students was involved in the incident.

At this time, Anderson 3 has not been provided the full scope of the incident, the specific types of student information involved, or the identities of individual students whose information may have been affected.

Frontline has stated that it conducted an investigation with the assistance of an independent cybersecurity firm, remediated the vulnerability, engaged law enforcement, and implemented additional security safeguards. Frontline also reports that its products are currently available, operating normally, and secure.

This is not an incident isolated to Anderson 3. Frontline serves school systems nationwide, and the incident has affected districts across the country that utilize the impacted products.

Frontline is working with affected school districts and is responsible for notifying individuals whose personal information was affected. Frontline will contact affected families directly with information regarding the data involved, available resources, and any recommended next steps.

Upon receiving notification of the incident, the Anderson 3 Technology Department initiated the districtโ€™s Incident Response Plan and reported the matter to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED). The district has continued communicating with Frontline and seeking additional information regarding the impact on Anderson 3 students.

The district will continue to monitor the situation closely and will communicate additional verified information with families as it becomes available.
