Three Anderson School District 3 schools have been recognized through the Palmetto Gold and Silver Awards Program, a statewide initiative that honors schools for exceptional academic performance and growth.

Flat Rock Elementary earned the prestigious Palmetto Gold Award, while Crescent High School and Starr Elementary each received Palmetto Silver Awards for their outstanding achievements.

Established by the Education Accountability Act of 1998, the Palmetto Gold and Silver Awards Program recognizes and rewards South Carolina schools that demonstrate high levels of performance, academic growth, and progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups.

โ€œThese recognitions are a direct reflection of the incredible work happening across Anderson 3 every day,โ€ said Superintendent Kathy Hipp. โ€œOur teachers, staff, and students are deeply committed to excellence, and these awards highlight that dedication to continuous improvement.โ€

At the elementary and middle school levels, schools qualify for Palmetto Gold or Silver based on their Academic Achievement and Student Progress ratings. High schools are evaluated across four indicators: Academic Achievement, Preparing for Success, Graduation Rate, and College/Career Readiness.

  • Flat Rock Elementary (Palmetto Gold) demonstrated excellent academic achievement and good student progress, placing it among the top-performing schools in the state.

  • Starr Elementary (Palmetto Silver) earned recognition for excellent academic achievement.

  • Crescent High School (Palmetto Silver) was honored for maintaining high levels of academic achievement, preparing students for success beyond graduation, and achieving strong graduation rates.

The awards underscore Anderson 3โ€™s ongoing commitment to providing an exceptional education for all students. โ€œWeโ€™re incredibly proud of the collaboration and effort that made this possible,โ€ added Hipp. โ€œThis recognition reinforces that our focus on excellence, relationships, and growth continues to move us forward.โ€

Together, these achievements reflect Anderson 3โ€™s vision of providing Premier and Uncommon learning experiences for students.
