Starr Elementary School has reached an Uncommon milestone, earning its highest-ever state ranking, placing 50th out of 646 elementary schools statewide, according to SchoolDigger.com. landing them in the top 8% in South Carolina with a 92.2 percentile.

Starr Elementary overwhelmingly surpassed Superintendent Ellen Weaverโ€™s North Star goal of 75% meeting or exceeding in ELA across all tested grades.

Starrโ€™s 3rd and 4th-grade math scores ranked among the top 2% in South Carolina, highlighting the schoolโ€™s strong instructional foundation and commitment to student growth. They also supremely surpass the 75% goal in 3rd and 4th grade!

Principal Ashlea Hatcher says this milestone reflects years of intentional focus and teamwork.

โ€œWe are so proud of our growth, and weโ€™re pressing forward,โ€ said Hatcher. โ€œThrough Tiger Time, we have honed in on individual student needs so every child gets the support or enrichment they need to continue to climb higher. We have made small changes in schedules to push what we know we need to improve on. We are truly Champions for Change at Starr Elementary, and the sky is the limit!โ€

Superintendent Kathy Hipp attributes Starrโ€™s success to a powerful combination of LETRS training, strong Tier 1 instruction, and a deep commitment to foundational literacy in grades Kโ€“2.
