Crescent Middle

Anderson 3 is taking another bold step towards "Vision 2026," the district's mission to begin construction on a new middle school by 2026, by acquiring an additional 112 acres of land adjacent to Crescent High School on Highway 81 South. With this purchase, the district announces the board of trustees has approved a new name for the future schoolโ€”Crescent Middle Schoolโ€”a nod to both its location along the Crescent Curve, for which Crescent High School was named.

The property acquisition reflects the districtโ€™s commitment to long-term growth, campus cohesion, and providing state-of-the-art educational facilities. The land sits just across Good Hope Church Road from Crescent High School, creating a natural extension of the districtโ€™s high school campus.

The intent of the new Crescent Middle School is to replace the aging Starr-Iva Middle School, originally constructed in 1953 during equalization. Though well-maintained, the current facility no longer meets the demands of a modern middle school experience.

โ€œThis is a historic moment for Anderson 3,โ€ said Superintendent Kathy Hipp. โ€œBy securing this additional land, weโ€™re able to bring our middle and high school communities together in close proximity to one another, while investing in a brighter future for our students.โ€

The district has selected Jumper, Carter, Sease Architects and Harper Construction to lead the design and construction process. Anderson 3 is currently in the preconstruction phase and expects to finalize a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) by early fall. Following that milestone, the district will host community meetings to unveil building renderings and explain potential tax implications.

Pending a successful referendum vote in March 2026, construction could begin as early as April.

The new property purchase builds on the districtโ€™s earlier acquisition of 72 acres in Starr in November 2024. The 8010 Highway 81 South site will be held onto for future building needs, such as the possible replacement of Starr Elementary.

โ€œOur vision is to provide a modern learning environment while being financially responsible,โ€ said Mrs. Hipp. โ€œWe know the importance of balancing progress with fiscal stewardship, and we are committed to working with our state and local partners to minimize the impact on our taxpayers.โ€

The district invites all stakeholders to stay engaged as it moves forward with "Vision 2026," a plan to build smarter, grow stronger, and serve better.
