This week we got to "hang around" Mrs. Shawn Craft, Physical Education Teacher at Iva Elementary School. Shawn is a veteran educator who has served all of her 24 years at Iva Elementary, a place she calls home.

Growing up in Florida, Craft was able to play every sport possible all year-round. Enjoying helping younger kids at summer sports camps, Shawn decided to combine her two loves, sports and teaching sports. After 24 years, Mrs. Craft still values the smiles and hugs from students who brighten her day as much as she hopes she has theirs. Not usually a hugger, Craft says, "those hugs from students are the ones that are worth it!"

5 facts about Mrs. Craft:

1. I was born and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida. ๐ŸŒด

2. I learned to ride a unicycle in middle school, and I can still ride one today!

3. I have been married for 26 years and have 2 children.๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ

4. My favorite hobbies are traveling and going to the movies. ๐Ÿงณ๐ŸŽฅ

5. My favorite physical activity is snow skiing. โ›ท๏ธ

"What is your favorite thing about teaching?"

"I love being able to literally get kids moving each day! Not everyone necessarily meets the standard definition of a "great athlete," but each and every child can be athletic in their own unique way. My greatest rewards come when those students who resisted stepping outside their comfort zones end up being able to accomplish an activity like performing a gymnastics routine or meeting their running goals. "

Thank you, Shawn, for being a "mover and shaker" at Iva Elementary! Congratulations on being nominated as this week's #A3AllStar ! ๐ŸŒŸ
