Mrs. Cynthia Ginn

My husband, Dennis, and I have been married for forty-one years, and we have two grown children, Jeffrey and Leigh. Leigh is married and has two children, Skyleigh-Grace (age 7) and Bryce (age 5). Our son, Jeffrey, and his wife, Michelle, are the parents of an infant daughter, Aubrey, who was born on May 20, 2016.  My husband and I live in Belton, but my husband grew up in Iva. His mother, Dot Ginn, and two brothers, Tony and Derrick, and their families still live in Iva, so I had ties to the area before I began teaching here.

I love the summertime because I enjoy swimming and being outside. My family and I always make time during the summer to take a vacation to Myrtle Beach, which is one of our favorite places. We also greatly enjoy weekends in Charleston and trips to the mountains.

I have been teaching for 13 years and am certified in Early Childhood Education and in Elementary Education. In addition I am trained in Orton-Gillingham phonics methods, and I have obtained my Masters in Education degree. This is my eighth year at Flat Rock.  Prior to this year, I taught kindergarten and second grade at Iva Elementary and Early Reading Intervention for struggling readers in K-2, first grade, second grade, and fourth grade at Flat Rock.  I enjoyed teaching first grade last year as a looping teacher, and I am looking forward to moving to second grade with my rising first-graders!

I became a teacher because of my desire to have a positive role in the development of young children. Through teaching children at church, I experienced the joy of watching children grow as they progressed over the course of a year. I am very fortunate to be able to earn a living doing something I enjoy.

I truly believe all children can learn, although they all progress at different rates and have varying abilities. It is my desire to begin instruction at whatever level the child has currently reached and to improve that level over the school year. Thank you for your confidence and support as I teach your child this year.
