Eric Hughes, Principal
Just a word of thanks for all your help and support as we begin another school year at Iva Elementary School. Parenting is the most difficult of all the jobs we will ever have – and the job is getting harder and more complex every year. I just want you to know how much we appreciate the job you do as parents.
It is safe to say that no matter how good we are as parents, and how good our children are, we will all have concerns at some point, on some level. However, there is much we can do together at home and school to ensure that your children have the maximum opportunity to be successful in school. Our goal at Iva Elementary is to team with you to create opportunities for these successes.
We also have the desire to keep our students as safe as possible during the school day. We ask for your support with a couple of concerns/opportunities:
1. Morning car riders – someone will assist your children on the rear driver side door only. We encourage you to allow your children to ride in the back seat and exit from this door as much as possible. We realize that those that drive a two door truck or car will not be able to do this, but as much as possible we hope those that can, will.
2. If you arrive after 7:45, please bring your child to the front entrance and sign them in at the office. This ensures that your child is counted present at school.
3. If there are any changes in the way your children are dismissed from school each day, a note must be sent stating this change. Otherwise, your children will be sent home in the normal manner in which we are familiar. Also, if your child is riding a different bus home with a friend both students must have a note concerning this along with phone numbers.
4. Last, if you pick your child up in the car line after school please be sure to display your car tag. This ensures we get the correct child in the correct automobile and it helps speed up dismissal.
We hope that you will understand that all of these rules and procedures are for the safety of your children.
Again, we promise to do everything we can at school to help your child be safe and successful. If you have any concerns that you would like to talk about, please contact your child’s teacher or me at anytime.
